Ethan Lambert Named Portz Scholar
For the FIFTH consecutive year, an SMBHC graduate has been named a Portz Scholar. Only four honors graduates nationwide are chosen each year to recognize outstanding undergraduate honors papers.
Congratulations to Ethan Lambert, who has won $375 and a free trip to present his honors thesis at the 58th Annual National Collegiate Honors Council conference in Chicago this November. Ethan researched and wrote “Photophysical and Photochemical Processes in Small Molecules and Materials for Solar Energy Conversion” under the direction of chemistry and biochemistry professor, Nathan Hammer. Professors Ryan Fortenberry and Jason Ritchie served on Ethan’s honors thesis committee.
In May 2023, Annexstad Scholar Ethan graduated from UM with a B.S. in chemistry (chemical structure, dynamics, and mechanism), and he is now pursuing a Ph.D. in chemistry at Florida State University. He is no stranger to the Office of National Scholarship Advisement; Ethan is a 2022 Goldwater Scholar and a 2023 NSF GRFP recipient.
Way to go, Ethan!
