Jacob Ferguson is originally from Pontotoc, MS, and received his bachelor’s degree in English and history from the University of Mississippi in 2019. He’s also a proud graduate of the SMBHC! After graduation he began working in admissions at the UM School of Education and pursuing his master’s degree in higher education, which he completed in 2021. Jacob then moved to Atlanta and expanded his experiences in the field of admissions at Emory Law School. Jacob returned to Oxford and the UM School of Education in 2023, where he transitioned into higher education development and fundraising. He joined the SMBHC team in 2025 and now serves as the Associate Director of Development, working to increase and advance philanthropic support for the Honors College.
When he’s not at work, Jacob enjoys keeping track of the books he’s read on Goodreads, cultivating a creative writing practice, going for runs at South Campus Rail Trail, and spending time with his family, including his fiancé Jared and their two cats.
