Jennifer Parsons joined the SMBHC team in August 2008 and has enjoyed serving in various roles, including her current position as Associate Dean and Instructional Assistant Professor. Born in Missouri and raised in Oklahoma, Dr. Parsons graduated from Harding University in Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in English and completed her master’s degree and doctorate in higher education at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Parsons oversees all communications, including the annual Honors Report and the SMBHC website and social media accounts. Additionally, she supervises recruiting efforts, advises honors students, serves on the SMBHC admissions and Stamps Scholarship committees, teaches sections of Hon 101/102 and Hon 391/392, and leads the SMBHC diversity liaison sub-committee, which operates under and in conjunction with the UM Diversity Liaisons committee through the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement. She also serves as faculty advisor to the Honors College Minority Engagement Council.
Dr. Parsons volunteers for CASA of North Mississippi as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children.
