Congrats to Two Honor Students

Congratulations to two honor students who took first place in the Team Division of the 2009 American Institute of Chemical Engineers National Design Contest. Both Christopher Turbeville and Michael McClure captured the title along with another UM student and successfully graduated in May 2009 in Chemical Engineering. SMBHC Senior Named Rhodes Finalist

SMBHC senior Vince Chamblee (economics, public policy leadership, accountancy) has been named a Finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship. Finalists will interview for the scholarship later this month. Good luck, Vince!

SMBHC Fall Convocation

Dava Sobel, renowned author and recent writer-in-residence at the University of Chicago, spoke to Honors Students in the Ford Center on September 14. She addressed her book Galileo’s Daughter and discussed the world that Galileo discovered with his telescope in 1609. Click here for more pictures.

Welcome Back Honors College Alumni!

The SMBHC will host an open house between 10 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Oct 10. We encourage our alumni to stop by and tour the building, and visit with Dean Sullivan-González, Dr. Samonds, Dr. Young, and other staff members. We will serve refreshments and Honors Ambassadors will provide tours of the building.
