New SMBHC Staff Members

Elizabeth Tolbert has been named Secretary for the SMBHC. Tolbert is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in Entertainment Industry. Scotty Polston joins the SMBHC team as Telecommunications Analyst II. He comes from the Computer & Information Science department, where he has been since 2008. Welcome, Ms. Tolbert and Mr. Polston!

SMBHC Welcome Week a Success

The SMBHC Class of 2019 recently enjoyed this year’s Welcome Week, which offered over 300 sessions in a variety of fields, including belly-dancing, ultimate frisbee, Harry Potter, and cooking, and provided evening engagements featuring Artist in Residence Bruce Levingston and Chancellor Emeritus Robert Khayat. The HEARIN FOUNDATION Funds the Mississippi Water Security Institute

The SMBHC’s $258,000 proposal to the Hearin Foundation to create the Mississippi Water Security Institute (MS WSI) has been accepted and fully funded! Because of the Hearin Foundation’s generosity, a select group of honors college students from around the state will experience a “laboratory” in water security. Read all about it here!
