Because the principal is invested rather than expended, an endowment forges a lasting link between hope and achievement. (The minimum endowment level for the University of Mississippi is set at $25,000 and may be paid incrementally.)
The SMBHC currently boasts three endowed scholarships, but, addressing the unmet financial needs of the most gifted students in and around Mississippi requires increasingly more endowment income.
Current SMBHC Endowed Scholarships
- The Barksdale Scholarship
- The Harold Parker Scholarship
- The Lynda M. Shea and John J. Shea Scholarship
In addition to funding scholarships, we strive to build endowment income to support the following:
- Lecture series
- Student awards
- Junior colloquia
- Visiting professorships
- Summer research stipends
