SMBHC Welcomes Dr. Ken Thomas
We welcome to the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College family our new Associate Dean for Capstone, Dr. Ken Thomas.
Dr. Thomas graduated with a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of South Florida concentrating in environmental and water resource sustainability. As a native of Trinidad and Tobago, he received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Process Engineering and his Masters in Environmental Engineering from the University of West Indies. He brings to the new post a vast experience in honors education having taught, advised, researched and published in the fields of engineering and honors education since 2010, and recently, having served as the Associate Director at Auburn University’s Honors College.
Dr. Thomas will work as the SMBHC’s new Associate Dean for Capstone to coordinate and direct the Capstone experience for the third/fourth year experience of Honors College students as they prepare for the Honors thesis/practicum. He will advise students, work with department chairs and deans to create appropriate methodological courses, and coordinate expectations and best practices with thesis/practicum advisors.
Dr. Thomas will assume his new post at the SMBHC summer 2020.
