The John Winkle Room Dedication
On Friday, October 14th, dozens gathered to honor Dr. John Winkle, professor emeritus of political science, at The John Winkle Room Dedication.
Honors alumni Rachel Donald (SMBHC ‘10) and J.R. Rigby (SMBHC ‘03) gave touching tributes to Professor Winkle, and Dr. John Samonds shared impressive facts regarding Professor Winkle’s impact on honors education and honors students at the SMBHC. We enjoyed remarks from Professor Winkle and loved celebrating the moment alongside his wife and three sons.
The John Winkle Room is located on the third floor of the SMBHC in room 315.
In 2021, an anonymous donor and Honors Program graduate gave $100,000 to the SMBHC to name the study room in Professor Winkle’s honor as well as establish the Dr. Vaughn Grisham Experiential Learning Endowment.
