Dr. Whitney Woods is the Assistant Director of the Office of National Scholarship Advisement (ONSA). She works to recruit, mentor, advise, and support students who are interested in applying for nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships. Whitney works alongside the Director of ONSA to create opportunities for students to engage in learning, transformative experiences, and service to become successful individuals and scholars.
Dr. Woods joined the University of Mississippi in 2015 and is native of Brandon, MS. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education-English and Master of Science degree in Counselor Education: Student Affairs from Mississippi State University. In August of 2020, she earned her Doctoral degree in Higher Education from the University of Mississippi. She presented “Intersections of Law and Campus Policy Related to Emotional Support Animals” based on her dissertation research at the annual Education Law Association Conference. Additionally, in 2018, she presented “Out and Accessible, Self-Efficacy in Career Decisions for LBGTQ+ Populations and for Students with Disabilities” with colleagues at a regional conference. Currently, Dr. Woods is working on an article to be published based on her dissertation research that is expected in Fall 2021 or Spring 2022.
