Looking ahead to 2020 and the opportunities/challenges of a quickly changing world, we know we need visionaries who can focus on what is true and what is important. We need citizen scholars whose vision for the future is 20/20. Below are the course titles selected for the 2018 summer stipend course development awards of $5,000 each. A full description of these honors courses will be made available when they are offered sometime over the next two academic years.
Faces of Poverty, proposed by Dr. Allen; Politics in a Post-Truth Age, proposed by Dr. Brown; Modern Environmental Chemistry: Engaging Global Contaminants and Current Issues, proposed by Dr. Cizdziel; Mississippi Jukebox: A Masterclass on Interviewing and Storytelling, proposed by Dr. Foster; Natural Language Processing in Python, proposed by Dr. Hassan; Food: A Global History, proposed by Dr. Lindgren-Gibson; Care Ethics and Social Policy, proposed by Dr. Mower; The Color Line in the Twenty-First Century, proposed by Dr. Thomas; and Honors Philosophy of Film, proposed by Dr. Yenter.
