Thanks to the UM School of Law, SMBHC juniors and seniors are able to get a taste of law school before they graduate. Students first take a required “gateway” course, after which they have the option to enroll (for undergraduate credit) in certain law school courses. The partnership is designed for smart, disciplined students who are wondering if law school is the way they want to go, and for those who know it is and can’t wait to get to it.
HON 350: Introduction to American Law and Legal Reasoning
The course is restricted to students in the SMBHC who have at least junior standing and a GPA of at least 3.6. Offered every fall and spring semester, it is taught by Law School faculty.
HON 550, 551: Honors Advanced Studies in Law I and II
Honors 550 and 551 comprise a selection of classes taught in the School of Law and—by arrangement with the SMBHC—open to Honors students who have completed HON 350.
Courses on offer include the following:
• Bioethics
• Constitutional Law II
• Criminal Procedure I
• Environmental Torts
• International Space Law
• Jurisprudence
